From the 9th to 11th of May this year, the TBTC CoLLAB event was held in the Barossa Valley. It was at this event that the Inspire Awards were presented. These awards were launched in order to recognise the innovation, ambition, and positive change that Telstra partners are bringing to the TBTC channel.
Our team at TBTC Melbourne North West were thrilled to finalists for the Sustainability and Environment Award, and were even more excited when we were declared the winners. We could not be prouder of our TBTC family, and wanted to share the details so those in our community can celebrate with us.
What is the Sustainability and Environment Award?
Telstra is Australia’s leading telecommunications company, and to them this means it’s part of their job to help the Australian public thrive in a digital world. This potential to thrive is only possible when the wellbeing of our environment stays a priority – after all, there is no digital world without the physical one.
This is where Telstra’s Environmental Strategy comes in. It focuses on technology and environmental sustainability, using technology to address environmental issues and helping others within the Telstra network and beyond to do the same.
The Sustainability and Environment Award is a part of this strategy. It recognises TBTCs who are making an effort to integrate sustainability into their business practises, and supporting their customers in making environmentally conscious choices. By making a point to celebrate this, Telstra is incentivising green thinking and attempting to generate a culture of sustainability in technology. TBTC Melbourne North West is very proud to contribute to this culture.
How Melbourne North West addresses environmental challenges and sustainability
One of our core values is participating in responsible business practises. We aim to be one of the most sustainable tech companies out there, and are committed to mitigating our business’ impact on the environment. Here are some of the key ways we’ve being doing this.
Cultivating an environmentally focused business network
Our business planning processes are always accounting for sustainable practises, trying to do whatever we can to benefit the environment. But how does being environmentally friendly affect a business? In TBTC Melbourne North’s case, we have seen big benefits.
By taking on a leadership role of environmental sustainability within the community, we’ve made clients and employees alike proud to be a part of our network. Our ethos is “if we do this well, we will attract additional likeminded business customers.” People know they can trust us to value the important things, especially with the programs we’ve rolled out, and partnering with companies that share their values is a big deal for our small business clients.
One of the things we’ve done is facilitate a day of rubbish clean-up, gardening, and tree planting. With a simple call out, we had not only members of our team getting their hands dirty, but customers as well. It’s a pleasure to see people in our community be as passionate and dedicated to the environment as we are.
Extending sustainability into the community
We aim to be a business that supports the community, and a tech company that helps the environment. That’s why we’ve pledged to the UN that we’ll be transitioning to carbon neutrality by 2025, and recycle our ICT equipment, giving it a second life. We want a good future for our people, and we do this by supporting the future safety of our planet. Part of this also involves donating our used devices to the local primary school, ensuring that vulnerable and disadvantaged kids have access to vital learning tools that will set them up for success in the future.
We are so honoured that our efforts have been recognised throughout the Telstra network, and we will continue to keep sustainable practises at our core.
